Well, Clinton was just a governor, too, Ish. Because of what I do for a living, I guess, I have always placed more emphasis on foreign affairs than most voters do. So, it's my bias. Granted. But I don't think it is as easy to "catch up" as you -- and many other people -- seem to think it is. Briefings won't do it, because, let's face it, most advisors have an agenda, or a slant, or a something, of their own. Suppose I am being briefed on internal developments in Lower Slobovia, where there's a revolution going on, and I don't know beans about Lower Slobovia. My advisor, who does know beans, is going to have a particular take on the subject, and there's a policy course he really wants me to follow. Well, I will not be able to put his advice in context. I will not know what the other possible interpretations of events are, so I won't be able to weigh his advice in the light of other possible courses of action. So I let myself be guided by him. So it is that my advisor is not just advising me on foreign policy, but actually making foreign policy. That has happened a lot. Remember Kosovo, for example -- Albright's war.

Please don't apologize for stating you feelings on this thread Ish..I know GWB is a "cotton picking idiot" or he would not have fallen into the same Rut as Bubba' by not admitting his drug use..and it gets worse..the nose candy has damaged his brain' too..He is being propelled by his name..and $$$$$$$$$$ Now comes the news that his brother Jeb..Gov.of Florida..is calling a special meeting of the "Fla.Legal Powers that Be" to decide a State Ruling on the Death Penalty while an appeal is waiting to be heard by the U.S, Supreme Court..He wants to change the status from the Electric Chair to a Lethal Injection and do business as usual.. This is Ludicrous..
