Xicor Announces Battery Management Development Kit
11/9/99 2:12:30 PM

MILPITAS, Calif., Nov 9, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Full Support for Recently Announced X3100 Smart Safety Unit;
Kit Provides a Complete Development Environment for Advanced
Algorithm Development and Verification
Xicor, Inc. (Nasdaq:XICO) today announced the availability of the XK3100 battery management development kit.

The XK3100 is a complete, integrated environment providing battery pack design engineers with the ability to evaluate algorithmic tradeoffs in gas gauging, cell balancing, and other key battery management functions.

Optimized for use with Xicor's recently announced X3100 Smart Safety Unit, the XK3100 includes the popular Mitsubishi M37516M4 microcontroller, all charge control/protection FETs, as well as complete software to easily interface to a PC. The XK3100 allows the designer to:

-- Graphically set and monitor under-voltage, over-voltage and
over-current conditions

-- Develop and optimize key battery management software algorithms

-- Optimize SMbus interface performance
The XK3100 also allows the designer to utilize the advanced analog signal measurement capabilities of the X3100 to develop low-cost gas gauging algorithms optimized for 3-4 cell Lithium Ion battery pack applications.

The XK3100 provides complete support for external microcontroller emulation for optimum software development flexibility, as well as an advanced graphical user interface to greatly improve designer productivity through the use of an intuitive register-oriented display.

Availability and Price

The XK3100 is available now. The price is $149.95.
