You know little things can irritate you sometimes? Make you wonder about people? I'm sitting here looking at the doors on my kitchen cabinets. Now, they nicely painted the place before I moved in. But on the cabinets, they moved the hardware. Knobs and the hickeys on the side that make it swing back and forth. This, of course, left holes where the old hardware used to be. They didn't fill the friggin' holes. Like spackle is expensive. Or hard to use. Or all that time consuming on a couple of dozen holes. I don't get it. Sooner or later I won't be able to stand it anymore and I'm going to get spackle and paint and fix it up. Idjuts.

Hmmm.... we were talking about inventions a couple of weeks ago... dumb ones that people make money off of... pet rocks, stuff like that...

Well, get this one. The Royal Bank (up here) is going to start issuing VISA cards called LensCards... credit cards with a piece of magnifying material in them so that you can use your card to read small print on bills and things before you sign them....

Now look at how these came to be.....

The LensCard, originally developed by American inventor and restaurateur Alan Finkelstein, was inspired by actor Jack Nicholson, who at the end of a meal in a dimly lit restaurant, pulled out a credit card and magnifying glass to read the bill. ''At that point, I realized that combining the two into a credit card was the perfect way to help people discreetly read small print,'' says Finkelstein.

OK, now here's the thing... Why can't we figure out this kind of thing?... How come we don't suddenly have a bright bulb light up over our heads when we see someone struggling to read their bill in a dimly lit restaurant?.. What's missing here?... Do we need to see Jack Nicholson trying to read a bill and not our grandmothers? >:-[

Let's see... what other things could we think of to invent when we see somebody struggling with not being able to see or do something?...

Hmmmm... how 'bout a holographic image of a target that hovers over the toilet bowl to help men with poor aim? Anyone know of an actor or other celebrity who can't shoot straight and could use a little help?

Uhm...or a retractable scraper on your credit card that can be used to scrape bubble gum off the sole of your shoe when walking on filthy sidewalks... Anyone know if Clinton, or Queen Elizabeth, or Yeltsin has ever had his or her shoe get stuck to the sidewalk during an important function?

Uhm....how 'bout an imitation pig's ear that is made out of edible corn products like the new little "chew bones" that eliminate all risk of salmonella poisoning... Maybe Lassie, or Benji, or some other canine star could get sick for a day or two (not deathly ill though), and that would give our invention a big boost...

...welll.. I think you get the idea... and I'm sure that you'll come up with some of your own...
