Walcalla, re: "Our consumer business is growing at roughly 100% per year in unit terms, so we need a lot of capacity to support that growth," Dell said.

Thanks for the Nashville news. Dell has been viewed as only business oriented and untried in the consumer market, but it is not new that Dell has incredible consumer growth. In addition, this consumer growth is occurring without one single "country store," so there is no overhead during off seasons.

Cheers
Mike

Walcalla,
Hi!!
RE: Dell Computer To Open Second Tennessee Plant
Monday, November 8, 1999 07:13 PM

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP, news, msgs)--Three months after opening its first U.S. manufacturing plant outside of Texas, Dell Computer Corp. (DELL, news, msgs) on Monday announced plans to open a second plant in Tennessee.

Chairman and Chief Executive Michael Dell said a growing consumer market is driving the latest expansion.

"Our consumer business is growing at roughly 100% per year in unit terms, so we need a lot of capacity to support that growth," Dell said.

Thanks for the release....The physical expansion is something I believe anyone can visualize...why in the world would DELL be building as they have been if they aren't anticipating hypergrowth? Sure everyone is concerned about the earnings this week...No matter what DELL has for us Thursday.... the future is where I am focused...Management has painted a future of expansion and streamlined efficiency that will force all the others into desperate strategies......Being direct is where the world is moving...increasingly so....The expansion is evidence...

Best, Kemble
