Ted, Re Magic Media256XL

This chip is targeted at a different market. It is a lot more expensive and harder to yield. It only dissipates 1 Watt and is targeted at ultra mobile market.

Re <<encountered a couple of major problems...oem had trouble producing it from nmgc's design and then there were yield problems (sound familiar)>>

Not exactly. Neo Magic (NMGC) is a fabless company and has had problems with capacity shortage at the foundries. On top of this problem yield issues as well as design issues with regard to their new chip has kept it out of the market till now. The foundries could not yield it at the design Neo Magic was providing. They were not two separate problems.

As a NMGC share holder, I loved todays 25% gain. :)
