Looping back to the beginning, one cannot meaningfully evaluate the bit rate claims without knowing the amount of spectrum used. Even if spectrum utilization is known, one is comparing bits/hertz efficiency in a vacuum.

One must know the application and the RF system architecture that flows from that application which will allow one to evaluate cost.

Very good points. That is why I was so impressed with Irwin Jacobs character and demeanor today. An individual investor can't hope to fully understand all the issues that are before these wireless data schemes unless your degree happens to be in RF propagation and you have a friend in the FCC, two patent attorneys in your back pocket and other things.

But an intelligent decision is still required to safeguard your investment capital. I felt like Jacobs was confident of his technology and the position they have established for themselves. To me that is more important than wild sounding claims from companies that I have never heard of.
