any clue why mcom is down 3/8 on news of ricochet announcement when q is forecast by thread to ramp 10+ with "inferior" product?

We can only guess the cost savings, if any, from HDR, compared with any of the other services, including DSL, cable modems, etc. There is also the issue of wired infrastructure already in place, which might make existing facilities less expensive than HDR. But it looks like the trend will be toward wireless, perhaps getting there faster in countries that have poorly developed wired systems (most of the world outside of western Europe and a few Asian countries). We need to look at the big picture here, not just whether HDR competes with existing systems, but rather what one does when a new office building, factory, or other facility is built, regardless of the country.
