Utah Company BioPulse International Killing Cancer Cells?
SANDY, Utah, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- As featured in the July issue of Alternative Medicine magazine, the most widely read publication of its kind in the world, BioPulse International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BIOP - news) is using a therapy that creates an internal biological environment where cancer simply can't survive. The company's clinic, located in Tijuana, Mexico, employs the formidable-sounding Insulin-induced Hypoglycemic Therapy (IHT).

''And formidable it is as a therapy that is showing promising results in reversing even end-stage cancer,'' according the article by Tom Klaber writing for Alternative Medicine. The article goes on to point out that BioPulse only began using IHT in June 1999, but Insulin Therapy was first used experimentally in 1928, by a young Polish neurophysiologist and neuropsychiatrist named Manfred J. Sakel. Working at a mental hospital in Berlin, Dr. Sakel thought the substance might be helpful in treating morphine addicts, and it was. Insulin Therapy was then used exclusively for the treatment of mental illness until 1957 when, again, ''chance'' intervened. That year, Dr. Surgis Koroljow, a psychiatrist and researcher practicing in New Jersey, used the therapy to treat two terminally ill cancer patients for severe depression.

The first patient was a 53-year-old woman who had a diagnosis of cervical cancer, confirmed by a biopsy. After ten weeks of five sessions per week, the patient had gained 32 pounds; her blood pressure was 125/75; her appetite was good; she slept well; and her mental condition was normal. One week after the termination of the Insulin Therapy, she was examined by her surgeon who found no sign of malignancy. The second case was similar. A 62-year-old woman was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, with malignant nodes scattered throughout her body, confirmed by biopsy. After fifteen weeks of Insulin Therapy, all traces of cancer were gone.

Dr. Koroljow published a paper on his work, and began treating cancer patients who came to his practice for psychiatric help. That's when the trouble began. A letter arrived from the State of New Jersey, threatening to revoke his license to practice if he didn't cease treating cancer patients. In fear of the medical authorities, he complied. This remarkably promising therapy was not heard from again until 1998.

A private researcher in Alabama was intrigued when he read about the therapy. He started a chain of events that resulted in attracting the attention of Loran Swensen, president of the BioPulse medical clinic in Tijuana. He, in turn, intrigued Dr. Bernarda Lara, a critical care M.D. who had been Mother Theresa's personal physician. After several months of preparation, BioPulse commenced the use of Insulin Therapy to treat cancer in June 1999.

There are, as of now, thirty success stories at BioPulse, but Loran hastens to add, ''The sooner people come to us, the better. Don't wait until you've exhausted your bone marrow and everything else and expect us to send you home cured.''

As the doctors and staff at BioPulse are the first to confirm, thirty-odd cases treated over a four-month period is not conclusive proof that BioPulse's IHT is indeed a cancer cure for the millennium. But while this may not be equivalent to a large-sample, double blind, placebo-controlled study over an extended period of time, the absolutely amazing ''anecdotal'' results are no less compelling--especially for the three dozen patients who are the living, breathing ''anecdotes.'' This amazing initial success makes it all the more a tragedy that this protocol was quashed into oblivion for an entire generation afflicted with an epidemic of cancer.
