Dan,

Lately though, given what has happened during the past 6 months, Intel seems to be less competitive when it's being
distracted by its "dot com" pursuits.

They just need to be kept from trying to affect 3rd party transactions (ie. if you deal with our competitors, we won't deal
with you). If Intel would stop trying to affect the relationship between AMD and VIA, for example, and focus on
developing better products instead, we'd all be better off.

Don't you think your mental energy might be better channeled toward advice for you favorite, AMD? I think Intel is doing OK; one bit of evidence might be lack of complaints from their stockholders here. AMD, OTOH, seems to be cutting loose divisions, like Vantis that will pay dividends for their buyer. LLTC. They were allowed to wither while with AMD, but LLTC will make good use of them. Anything for the holy war vs. Intel, that's the mantra at 1 AMD Place. LLTC, chart, e.g.:

Distracted ?

Intel just landed a MAJOR DESIGN WIN from Nortel as part of their "dot.com" pursuits !!

Message 11856732

When was the last time AMD had a new design win ?

Why is AMD selling off its body parts ?

Seems as if it is AMD that can't succeed at ANYTHING ELSE !

Paul

Dan, <They just need to be kept from trying to affect 3rd party transactions (ie. if you deal with our competitors, we won't deal with you).>

Still sticking to conspiracy theories, Dan? You have nothing to fear. If any of your theories hold water, you can bet that the U.S. government, encouraged by their recent victory against Microsoft, will have sufficient evidence to go after Intel next.

As for me, I won't be losing sleep over this. Even AMD doesn't think Intel is strong-arming motherboard makers, unlike what the Tom Pabsts of the world think.
