This is most likely the reason for natural gas weakness: Trying to predict the weather out more then 5 days is a fools game. What happens next week when it may be colder then normal? I live in Phx and the only reason our weathermen ever get it right is because all they have to say is that it will be sunny and warm or sunny and hot and you are right 90% of the time....

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Natural gas futures dropped sharply on
Monday as balmy temperatures weighed on the market, giving traders
little incentive to bid up contracts in anticipation of a chilly winter.

Mild temperatures are in the forecast for the
Southeast and Upper Midwest regions. Brisk
weather typically bolsters natural gas and heating oil
demand as furnace use increases during the winter
season.

"The natural gas was hit hard during the latest week
by forecasts of record warm temperatures in the
Mid-west," said Phil Flynn, an analyst at Alaron
Trading, based in Chicago.

The Midwest is the largest consumer of natural gas
in the U.S. The news also comes as gas stocks are
at favorable levels. According to the America Gas Association, total U.S.
inventories stand at 2,995 billion cubic feet.

December natural gas fell 21.9 cents to $2.665 per million British thermal
units on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
