RESEARCH ALERT-VerticalNet (NASDAQ:VERT) at strong buy ====================================================================== NEW YORK, Nov 9 (Reuters) - SG Cowen said Tuesday it started coverage of VerticalNet Inc. (NASDAQ:VERT), with a strong buy rating and set a $150 target price for its stock. -- It said analyst Rob Schwartz forecast 2000 revenue growth nearing 200 percent amid narrowing losses at VerticalNet, which owns and operates 51 Web sites that promote electronic commerce among businesses. -- "Positive near-term catalysts should continue momentum; expect a steady stream of partnership announcements and acquisitions," he said in a research note. -- "Transaction revenue is a source of potential upside; model reflects minimal contributions," he said. -- VerticalNet's stock was up 4-15/16 at 91-15/16.
