i like the part:

"MP3.com offers to manufacture, sell and ship CDs by its bands for a 50 percent split of the earnings, although bands can choose to sell their CDs through other online stores, such as Amazon.com."
so here is mp3.com admitting that the only way to make their artists any money is to distribute in the traditional way.....but wait...cd's through amazon.com? hmmm,, i suppose these artists that have been "discovered" on mp3 thru the free advertising methods could now encode their music with liquid audio and sell that thru amazon.com too. very interesting.
