Then Solaris is hardly open source, is it? And since it runs
on hardware that you say no one owns not only should it be open
source it should be Public Domain, don't you agree?


Solaris is owned by Sun, as I indicated. If they run it on their
proprietary hardware, then it remains their IP and they can
license it as they choose. If they run in on NON-proprietary
hardware (PC X-86 Solaris), then it should be free and open,
like all the others.

BTW, thanks for responding, Gerald, despite what Brian M. has
to say. It seems like he has soured in the last couple of years.
I welcome the debate and find it useful.
