Another classic post. We need one each day! This one is really a hoot because of all the fracas in NY recently at the Brooklyn museum over a painting of elephant dung (or real dung? I can't even remember) on the madonna--Guiliani practically wanted to close the museum down, did try to cut off its funding, but couldn't, the controversy made it the most popular show ever...dung in finance & art...guess it's all the same

Dear Voltaire,

In the high villages of the Himalaya, dung is a valuable commodity. Yak dung patties are best, and are prized for their ability to burn. Without dung there would be no fire. Without fire there would be no rancid butter tea, no momos, no dahl bhat. There would be no rakshi to drink on a cold night at 16,000 feet.

You can also throw them like frisbees.

Dung is good. Cheers,

Climber

Whew! I'm glad I don't have to justify, quantify, and rationally explain all the money I've made in this market in order to keep it!
Does this mean my kids can have that Jungle Gym for Christmas?

LOL. I wonder if we could have derivatives on the number of flies on the pile.

we have history in making with NAZ volume
something like 7 consecutive days over 1 billion shares
this is significant to me -- serious tech rally to be sustained

no more talk about dung and flies
that stuff upsets me to no end

Volt man. You have a totally different outlook from most. Yet, you largely come to the same conclusions. By now most of us are looking at market events with asomewhat jaundiced eye due to your perspectives. Thanks for your contribution.

volt, you are correct. irrationality rules the market and it frustrates the rational. irrationality is both up and down w/ no long term bias.

i will be buying stocks when everyone hates them. it might be a while before i buy my next stock, though ;-)

even when undervalued, prices may continue to sink for years.

but, underlying it all, i will own a piece of a business that generates a return. i can live with the return.

there is no return to live with in todays "nifty 50" and internuts.
