If that spread keeps up, we'll be shipping oil out of the NY port authority to London, Hamburg, and Marseille! <vbg>

The PDF docs are pretty interesting, imo.

surveys of industrial chief executives and of consumers in the Community and in Eastern Europe. The September data for the EU has been revised upwards by one point, and in October there was a further one point increase. Similarly, in the euro-zone confidence in this sector has improved two points, compared with last September?s level. However, within this sector the change is far from uniform ? with significant increases, for example, in France, but a slight fall back in Italy and the United Kingdom, and a more severe decline in Germany.

Consumer confidence is also on the rise, according to the latest preliminary figures from DG II ? increasing by two points in the EU and in the euro-zone. While the recovery has been rather subdued in Germany, consumers in France, Italy and the UK seem to be much more optimistic.

As a result of these observed increases, a positive change of the ?economic sentiment indicator? has been experienced in both the EU and the euro-zone ?showing a significant rise from 103.8 in September to 104.2 and 104.3 respectively in October. This is the highest level for the EU this year and well above the long-term average of 100.7.
