I'm pretty sure Amazon knows what they're doing with tools. Remember, Joe Galli, Amazons president, was president of Black & Decker.

The margins in tools are very high.

nteresting comment but he may be missing something... e-tailers are finding success with nichey, specialized items that
are hard to stock in inventory... tools are like that. I'm sure thats why they selected that market. It is a diversion from
the amzn customer base but some of these mainstream spaces like toys are saturated.

I believe this to be pure panic by Amazon. Revenue growth is slowing but online sales in general are growing. The fairy tale is coming to an end. The hype about this annoucement was simply to get the stock price up.
