>the core book business is losing market share.

When a company can move its multi-billion market cap by 20 percent in one day by issuing a press release saying "we're going to announce something tomorrow", who cares about market share?

Glenn, you should have realized by now, this is about selling SHARES. Not selling product. Amazon has produced nearly 700 million dollars in insider profit through selling shares, while total revenues to date are barely above 1 billion, and net income is still negative 291 million.

Get it through your head. The purpose of internet companies is to SELL STOCK TO JOE Q. PUBLIC.

The day to day business operations exist only to keep appearances up.

>>the core book business is losing market share.

Book sales in the US are growing 6-8% per year. Are you saying Amazon's book sales are growing slower than 8%? Shame on you.
