This is the "I love CSCO" thread. With controversial comments like that you just might be labelled a heretic.

you are correct. Cisco is following, while Lucent and Nortel are very strong in optics. The intent of my comment was that all three are in optics because they all recognize that this is the future. Whereas Foundry and Juniper are into electrons. The shareholders in those two are going to get killed in the next few years.

But as far as Cisco being a follower, remember that Cisco's strategy is to BE a fast follower. They only get into markets that their customers want them in and they only go in if they feel they can take the #1 or 2 spot. Time will tell. We'll know in the next 3 to 5 years. I'll still be here as an investor. Will you?
