Its no longer the mom@pop investor that panics, recent history tells us that. The"wimps" of Wall Street are now first to the exits. This would be the wrong thread to be asking that type question.Lots of LTH's here.

I think the powers that be..from greenspan to the govt lax accouting policies (MSFT doesn't have to count the cost of employee options as an expense against earnings)...would prefer to see a sharp correction before Y2K....this way the blame would be diffuse...blame it on Y2k fear.....if market crashes after new year, there will be hell to pay for blame..either blame because y2K was bad and govt should have prepared better...or blame because nothing happened on market crashed.....the news would end up doing a lot of the gory reporting about manipulation , accounting, conflict of interest,etc....

if the boomers saw their 401K retirement $$ slip away, a which hunt for the "crooks" would ensue...they have a hugh voting block and the market would probably go back to the dark ages.....blame would definitly land somewhere...

a "crash" before Y&2K solves this problem....

any one know what CC at CSCO said about prediciton for next quarter??
