Jagmohan takes on the builder mafia

After his brush with the telecom operators in his earlier charge of the Communications Ministry, Urban Development Minister Jagmohan is now determined to take on the private builder mafia and corrupt officialdom of the Capital.

Seriously concerned at the large-scale unauthorised constructions in the posh residential colonies of Delhi, mainly with the connivance of obliging local officials, the Minister has ordered a major crackdown on such violations.

Well aware of the strong nexus between unscrupulous builders and civic officials, he is thinking of ordering a CBI enquiry into how hundreds of multi-storied apartment complexes have been allowed to come up illegally on residential plots meant for two-and-a-half storied houses only, sources said.....
