Company Press Release
TVI Corporation Completes $500,000 Safe Kids Contract
GLENN DALE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2000--TVI Corporation announced Wednesday that it had completed its $500,000 contract for equipment for the Chevy Venture Mobile Car Seat Check Up Program.

The Program is administered by the National SAFE KIDS Campaign and is sponsored by General Motors.

The Program was launched nationally at a Press Conference at the Washington Monument Washington, DC on Tuesday, January 18. General Motors announced its donation and sponsorship of fifty-one Mobile Check Up Systems to the State chapters of Safe Kids in the fifty states and the District of Columbia.

Each system consists of a Chevy Venture minivan, four TVI Topper Tents, six TVI V-Board signs, and various items of support equipment. The state teams will conduct child safety seat inspections and training at dealerships, shopping malls, daycare centers, and similar locations.

The Topper Tent employs TVI's patented articulating shelter frame and a pre-attached canopy. It is expanded into a clear span shelter by simple lifting by two people in less than a minute. It collapses into a compact, lightweight cube for easy handling and storage. The Toppers are used to cover automobiles during the inspection.

The V-Board sign employs TVI's patent pending frame and a pre-attached imprinted fabric poster. The 4 x 4 foot sign weighs about five pounds, and collapses for handling and storage. The V-Boards will be used for promotion and to direct traffic flow. Allen Bender, president of TVI, observed that both products provided color, image, and promotional impact in easily handled packages that were ideally suited for Mobile Check Up requirements.

Mr. Bender commended the Campaign for its efforts in addressing a very serious problem of child safety, and General Motors for its generosity and commitment to ensuring safety of children while riding in automobiles. ``We are gratified to be a part of such a worthwhile program' he added, ``and delighted to support organizations of the stature of Safe Kids and General Motors.'

Child safety while an automobile passenger is a serious and widespread national problem. Recent studies disclose that about 85% of child safety seats are used incorrectly. Automobile crashes are the leading cause of injury-related death in children, and caused injury to some 282,000 children in 1998. Properly used safety seats can significantly reduce this problem.

Mr. Bender noted that this is the first substantial sale of TVI's family of Hospitality and Promotion products. He believes that the national exposure the products will receive will create significant interest, and present opportunities for sales for other applications. The company intends to establish a specific marketing initiative to pursue commercial sales.

Information on the Mobile Safety Seat Check Up Program may be found at the General Motors website at www.gmevents.com. Information on the Safe Kids Campaign may be found at www.safekids.org. The Campaign is a program of the National Children's Medical Center.

TVI Corporation is a publicly owned company just completing 23 years of operations. Its stock trades on the OTC Bulletin Board under the symbol TVIN. Additional information is available at the Company's website at www.tvicorp.com.
