U.S. Stocks May Fall Tomorrow: After-Hours Trading Report

New York, Oct. 12 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks may drop
tomorrow after Intel Corp., the third-most heavily weighted stock
in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index, reported profit that fell
short of estimates.

After exchanges closed, Intel, the No. 1 semiconductor
maker, reported third-quarter net income of 42 cents a share,
down from 44 cents a year ago. Excluding a charge for the
purchase of Level One Communications, profit was 55 cents a
share, 2 cents shy of the average estimate of analysts polled by
First Call/Thomson Financial.

In after-hours trading, Intel fell 5 11/16 to 71. During
regular Nasdaq Stock Market trading, the stock rose 3/16 to 76
11/16.

During the day, stocks fell as bond yields near two-month
highs heightened concern the Federal Reserve could raise interest
rates soon. The Dow Jones Industrial Average suffered its biggest
loss in more than four months.

The Dow fell 231.12, or 2.2 percent, to 10,417.06, its
largest drop since May 27. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost
22.17, or 1.7 percent, to 1313.04. The Nasdaq Composite Index
fell 43.52, or 1.5 percent, to 2872.43, retreating from a record
2923.32. Five stocks fell for every two that rose on the New York
Stock Exchange, the broadest decline in three weeks.

Some 769 million shares traded on the Big Board, up from the
three-month daily average of 746 million.

The following is a summary of active stocks on MarketXT, an
after-hours trading system that opens at 4:30 p.m. New York time.
