Hmmmm....well, I never have had much use for Government intervention nor regulation...except when all other options had failed. As regards MSFT, seems to me that every other option was tried. The one sure way to get the Dogs in on you is to say that the law doesn't apply to YOU, and that you're going to damn well go and conduct the business anyway you see fit. When Al Capone tried that, he got the FBI. When Microsoft give us the modern era version of the same thing, I don't see why there would be any surprise about the events which followed. Kinda like night follows day.
Interestingly, MSFT will have quite a bit more trouble than most companies trying to get established in alternative industries, because it is so difficult to find a partner who trusts MSFT to turn over any serious element of control. Those who haven't already been burned don't care to experience that pleasure..
Gotta get some shuteye... Good luck with your MSFT investments...though I think there is a pretty dismal lag for as long as the settlement drags.. And good luck to all of us in an early, reasonable, minimally intrusive settlement.
Good nite
