toothid, as far as i know, drtn uses msfts software to provide hosting and concentrates on the pure facilitation of hosting for revenue. I think many of the ASP's have their own software... but provide the same facility, but aren't as focused on it. Someone please correct me if i am wrong ...

Do you mean an ISP? An ISP, an Internet Service Provider, is a jack-of-all-trades in this industry and also provides things like dial-up access, etc. An IPP, Internet Presence Provider, or web hosting company, concentrates solely on web hosting.

Data Return is the leading Microsoft (NT/IIS) web host. Many other hosts also use NT/IIS, but the majority use Unix or Linux and Apache web server.
