Yes, but the question I asked was this: is the "culmination" really more "important" than the "beginning"? For example, where would 20th century Marxism have been without Marx -- not to speak of the other 19th century socialist thinkers? As far as original ideas go, the 19th century wins hands down over the 20th, IMO.

Gee, how did I get involved in arguing the relative merits of the centuries? Free association, probably...<g>
