Brian,

I'm sure SCMR will face many competitions. Right now, SCMR is getting the attention because it is the first so called "pure optical" play (my words) that went public. To me, this technology has yet to be proven (including LU's), and it is far from conclusion who will emerge as the "Gorilla". Also, a company (particularly its stock) will not do well based on technology alone, must also look at its marketing and management.

FYI, there are other photonic plays (source ML):

Company...............% in optics..........Growth in Optics

JDS Uniphase...........100%................100%
Nortel.......................20%.................100%
SDL, Inc.....................65%.................190%
E-Tek.......................100%..................80%
Lucent.......................15%..................60%

CSCO is not in the picture, now you know why it bought Cerent recently and invested in Corvis.

>>I also understand that there may be a changing of the guard at Williams.<<

Do you know if the change will entail a major shift in policy (especially for the optical networking vendors it is using) or will it be business as usual? Thanks
