Josef, you raise a lot of good questions. Have you listened to I.J. at the HDR demo? I think you have a few technical and timing misconceptions but when I started to respond to them I realized enough time had passed they had become a little fuzzy in my mind as well. I guess at some point I will have to re-listen to the HDR demo again.

One thing I am quite certain of is even packet switched data will tie up the subscriber device. No data while you are in the middle of a voice call unless you have two subscriber devices. I'm not sure many would need or use such a feature but I imagine in the future it may be offered.

I urge everyone who is interested to invest the time to listen to the HDR presentation since the entire CDMA family of technologies is explained in quite simple language and the way that operators get there is explained also. I know others are more adept at taking notes than I am. The potential upgrade paths for operators and the timing of these upgrades is very flexible depending upon the needs of each operator and even individual areas within each operators coverage and, of course, different market areas.
