Mr. Gorbachov did more to end the cold war than any person I think of. I think the cold war was one of the greatest wastes of time and thought. So I nominate Gorbachov as one of the greats of the 20th century for his role in this. If there was a Russian leader who did more to end the cold war, I would appreciate information on the topic.

It is just a nomination. I can be convinced it is wrong, if the argument is solid.
