Tom, I'm just glad they announced a date.

I think Hollywood will really sit up and take notice. The entertainment industry is still trying to figure out how best to use the web. If the Austin Powers movie goes as well as I expect, HyperTV may become part of the standard rollout for any top box office movie.

Why would IATV produce a press release looking at a Jan 01, 2000 event? Advertising is one thing, but why make the announcement now if there will be something to announce between now and Jan 1, 2000?

I could think of two reasons:

1) Advertising prior to the event (heavy baby).
2) They don't want any Y2K glitches in the middle of a nation-wide launch (JMO).

Because thats SHOWBIZ! ie They don't wait till a movie is running before adv. it.
There will be news between now and then.
If you have a done deal and a date you release it.
According to the regs. you have to.
