Craig, gates has been very naive re govt regulatory matters and the need for lobbying on msft's behalf. Gates has admitted this in recent interviews. Gates himself has used the word "naive" to describe his outlook in years past.

So apparently one actually can be very smart and successful in business, and still be naive re our govt's power.
