The 170 mil have already been sold and does not directly relate to when or whether the stock will split.

Each company is different and can have many reasons to issue a split. But in general terms as the Companies value grows the stock price rises, as it rises you will see a split. All 170 mill shares, plus another 330 mil or so that are held by the company or issued as options to employees are in play, so to speak.
