Jimmy Jeans,
Good analysis. Even numbers are hard to penetrate because of resistence from sellers. Who hasn't heard someone say "when it gets to 100 i'm selling" Substitute 200, 300 or 400. If the price hangs around 300 for a few days and a major event propels it higher by 10+ points on the close it will signal the take out of the 00. It doesn't appear likely that it will slowly drift up through 300. The asault on Dow 10,000 was similar but Dow 11000 is even tougher. Pyschological barriers are significent and hard to overcome. The 00 sellers will be telling their friends how well they did in easy to understand terms "00". Imagine them saying "yah, I got 299 15/16 for Q*" Huh? Why not 300? It would be interesting to see the sell orders placed @300.
