World DRAM Price] Spot Price of 64Mb DRAMs for Large Users Shows Down Trend November 10, 1999 (TOKYO) -- The spot price of 64Mb DRAMs for large users, which had been skyrocketing, took a downward trend, causing the 30-day rolling average up to Oct. 15 to hit bottom. The rolling average up to Oct. 22 decreased another 4.7-5.7 percent. According to ICIS-LOR, which conducts surveys on DRAM prices, the rolling average of 64Mb DRAM (PC100, 8M x 8) prices for large users for the period between Sept. 23 and Oct. 22 was US$9.29 in North America., US$9.78 in Europe and US$9.20 in Asia. Compared with the average for the 30 days up to Oct. 15, it increased 3.86 percent in North America, 9.83 percent in Europe and 6.58 percent in Asia. ICIS-LOR has bases in London, Houston and Singapore. The spot price of 64MB dual inline memory modules (DIMMs, PC100) decreased 4.54 percent from the previous week to US$116.98. It decreased 5.15 percent to US$123.80 in Europe, and decreased 4.29 percent to US$119.55 in Asia. The spot price decreased to the US$9.00 level after Oct. 20, lower than the contract price. Affected by the downward trend, the 30-day rolling average began to decrease as well. A DRAM supply glut caused the price declines. Contract prices are expected to remain US$10 in November, but they are forecast to decrease in and after December.
