United Dominion and CAIS Internet to Deliver High-Speed Internet Access to Apartment Residents in 32 U.S. Markets WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1999--United Dominion Realty Trust, Inc. Residents of United Dominion apartment communities will be able to access the Internet up to 50 times faster than with traditional dial-up connections, and have the ability to make and receive telephone calls on the same line simultaneously. As one of the largest multi-family apartment owners and developers in the country, United Dominion will make high-speed Internet access available to more than 80,000 apartment homes in 21 states. Installation will begin within the month, with Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, and Phoenix among the first markets to receive this broadband Internet service. ``Our goal at United Dominion is to provide our residents with an exceptional living experience,' said John McCann, Chief Executive Officer. ``We continually strive to offer new features that enhance the living environment of our customers. The CAIS high-speed Internet solution is an essential link to today's high-tech world at an affordable price, as it eliminates the need for a second phone line and an Internet provider. The CAIS broadband solution does not require rewiring the communities, and can be installed in occupied apartments with a minimal one-time visit.
