Medsite Launches Online Medical Education Program; Partnering with HealthStream, Medsite Will Offer Physicians 730 Hours of Category I CME Credit Hours

Story Filed: Wednesday, November 10, 1999 10:19 AM EST

NEW YORK, Nov 10, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Medsite, the physician's home on the Internet, today announced the launch of Medsite University, a fully-accredited online health education service offering a comprehensive collection of continuing medical education (CME) courses. Partnering with Medsite for the launch is HealthStream, a leading provider of online healthcare education.

At the time of the launch, Medsite University's online course catalog will feature 730 hours of Category I CME credit hours, with the collection of courses to grow substantially in coming months. Additional courses are being developed through HealthStream's existing relationships with academic thought leaders such as the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Duke University Health System and Vanderbilt University. All courses are accredited by the American College of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

"The launch of Medsite University is indicative of our commitment to bringing physicians an array of smart and simple Web tools and services that ultimately save both money and perhaps most importantly - time," said Sundeep Bhan, founder and CEO of Medsite. "Our vision is to be the pioneer in helping physicians derive real value from the tremendous promise of the Internet. Our online CME program is yet another example of how we are continuously creating solutions that meet physician's needs in the new Millenium."

Medsite's innovative online CME program offers significant advantages as compared with traditional approaches. Medsite's courses are available at $10 per credit, a substantially lower cost than traditional offline CME courses. By accessing the programs online, physicians can fulfill their CME requirements whenever it is convenient for them, whether at home or at the office. In addition physicians can obtain high-quality CME without incurring travel expenses to a remote location or taking time away from their practices or families.

Medsite University gives physicians the flexibility to access the complete CME course catalog, create a personalized list of courses and complete enrollment online. If interrupted during his coursework, a physician will have the ability to stop and "bookmark" a spot in the course, and to pick it up later at his own leisure. After completing the course, the physician must pass a final examination in order to be eligible to receive credit.

"This launch with Medsite is a prime example of HealthStream's partnership approach to healthcare education," stated Robert A. Frist, Jr., chief executive of HealthStream. "We look forward to playing an important role in the development and enhancement of Medsite's educational strategy."

I'm thrilled with how JDX is trading so far today. Great support building in. Reminds me of the pattern a little more than a week ago down in the lower .70's. Hopefully history is repeating itself here. So far it certainly looks like it is!

Regards,

Kevin
