Has anyone noticed that all of a sudden the national dialog has shifted to the question, what is the best way to impose MASSIVE new taxes on the country? First Trump's 14% wealth confiscation scheme and the new minimum wage tax, and now this:

Governors, mayors plan sales tax for Internet

By Donald Lambro
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

A coalition of liberal governors and big city mayors is pushing a plan to create a national system to tax Internet sales that appears headed for a political showdown with Republican opponents in Congress in 2000.

The still-secret tax plan would set up a nationwide computer apparatus "to collect sales and use taxes from mail-order, interstate and Internet sellers," according to documents outlining the plan, obtained by The Washington Times.
