New Brazilian Operator Awards Alcatel EUR 346 Million Contract for its Integrated Telecommunications Network Using DWDM BusinessWire, Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at 12:52 PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1999--Intelig, the new operator that will be providing long-distance services to Brazilian users by the end of 1999, has chosen Alcatel as prime contractor for its telecommunications network. The three-year contract is valued at EUR 346 million (US $360 million) and includes products, services and start-up network operation. In addition to the management of the project, Alcatel will also be responsible for integrating products and solutions such as switching, data, customer care and billing of important international suppliers. The Alcatel technologies chosen by Intelig cover a wide range of services, including DWDM and SDH products, the optical fiber network, land satellite stations, intelligent network, call centers and signaling transfer points. Intelig's project is to provide in Brazil the most innovative international telecommunications solutions, products and services based on leading technologies and first-class customer service, thereby establishing a new standard in the Brazilian telecommunications market.
