e-MedSoft.com's 'esparto' To Power Online Trading for the U.K.'s Largest Independent Supplier of Laboratory Products JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1999-- e-MedSoft.com. (OTCBB:MDTK - news) announced today that its U.K. subsidiary, e-Net Software Limited, has entered into an agreement under which A J Cope Ltd. will utilize e-MedSoft.com's landmark 'esparto'(TM) as the foundation for its new online trading catalog.
The new fully functional e-Business site built on esparto software will allow business-to-consumer and business-to-business trading over the Internet and directly with customers both in the U.K. and in new international markets.
A J Cope Ltd. is the largest independent wholesale distributor of laboratory products and related equipment in the U.K. Its product line encompasses some 15,000 different products, including such items as glass and plasticware consumables, portable and bench meters and sophisticated equipment like spectrophotometers and autoclaves. Currently, the company markets its products through distribution of a 600-page catalog to both distributors and laboratories, and through an existing Web site.
Commenting on the decision to use esparto, a spokesperson from A J Cope said, ''Our existing Web site receives approximately 2,500 hits per week, proving the viability of selling our products over the Internet. Now, in order to maximize our service levels to our customers, and better manage our business, we have made the decision to significantly enhance the capabilities of our online sales and processing system. We looked at a number of competitive solutions, and our decision to go with e-Net Software and esparto to help us achieve our goals was based on our desire to partner with a company that has a superior technology foundation and can deliver a complete implementation consultancy and support service.''
The new online trading catalogue and ordering system is designed to complement the existing distribution channels and printed catalog. It allows customers to search the database for needed items, view products from the catalog online, configure product information, order, track and trace their orders. The extensive grouping facilities and user recognition capabilities will give end-users immediate and personalized access to the most appropriate sections of the online catalog, therefore improving customer service and the speed of purchase. esparto will also support the rapid launch of new products and enable the company to analyze market response by geographical sector and demographic groupings. This is particularly important to the company's export business.
Commenting on this agreement, e-MedSoft.com Chairman and CEO John Andrews stated, ''This agreement is a significant development for our e-MedSoft.com line of Internet application products. While much of our focus has been on the delivery and practice management side of healthcare, esparto clearly establishes us as a player in the supply-side of the industry. E-MedSoft.com, with its versatile, Java-based Internet solution for the medical community, is creating an interlocking system of Web-based building blocks that are designed to fluidly connect all participants in the healthcare delivery process. We're making a difference in healthcare around the globe -- and we're proud of it.''
