Jim, IMES actually did a lot of work on the code emulation stuff. And patented it as they should have done.

Now aparently Intel was threatened enough that they tried to purchase the patents with the cockamamie Cayman islands stuff.

I agree that the patent attorney are sharks here and bought something very cheap. They will spend several million dollars litigating this. Clearly they have some faith in their claims or they wouldn't be pursuing it.

Something similar happened with S3 i believe on some patent rights that they purchased and Intel had to pay for that as well by investing in S3 as well as some patent exchanges etc.

Intel in the past and not so recent past has pursued its patents agressively. In fact the recent patent suits that Intel filed against FIC/VIA etc were based in large part on patents that it had ACQUIRED from Wang I believe.

What goes around comes around.....
