QLogic Commands Market Lead in Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter Market

biz.yahoo.com

COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1999--QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC - news), an industry leading designer of advanced, high-performance I/O controllers and Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions, owns the number one position in the independent Fibre Channel host bus adapter market, according to analysis released today by Dataquest, a Gartner Group company.

The first report to detail Fibre Channel components and host bus adapters for the SAN infrastructure shows that QLogic led the market with a 34 percent unit market share for Fibre Channel host bus adapters in 1998, and a 36 percent share in the first half of 1999.

``The market for Fibre Channel host bus adapters exhibits rapid growth in this report,' said James Opfer, Dataquest analyst and author of the report. ``This performance is consistent with increasing Fibre Channel interconnections and the growth of SANs across a spectrum of computing devices from Windows NT to UNIX servers. As the report illustrates, companies who successfully penetrate the highest volume sector of the Fibre Channel interconnections market will most likely win the largest market share.'
