Sprint PCS partner Roberts signs network
deal with Lucent

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Roberts Wireless Communications and Lucent
Technologies Inc. announced a three-year, $32 million contract to
construct a personal communications services network throughout
Missouri as a network partner of Sprint PCS.

Under terms of the contract, Lucent will supply the switching hardware
and software, as well as radio hardware and software needed to build the
Code Division Multiple Access-based network.

The Sprint PCS service area managed locally by Roberts Wireless
encompasses 14 basic trading areas, including the entire state of Missouri
(except the St. Louis and Kansas City metropolitan areas), the southern
tip of Illinois, the southeast corner of Kansas and the northeast corner of
Oklahoma.

I thought you meant users. Not at the POP. At one time I knew the number at the POP, I believe it might be 10 users to 1 modem, I'm not sure of that number.

They also have some sub numbers on the site....seems to indicate that CDMA is continuing to get about 300,000 new subs a month. Not bad, but I am looking for some acceleration. NTT continues to garner over 50% of new subs. Perhaps when the 64kbps service is rolled out at the end of the year.

One other note...I think Korea is continuing at about 1m new subs a month through October. They have to saturate at some point but it hasnt happened yet....
