The UI in cars hasn't changed in 80 years, think about it!

You're kidding right? Was there HUD displays in cars 20 years ago? Navigation controls? Tilt wheels... look I could go on and on. The joystick on a car is about the same, but the UI is getting better ergonomically speaking.

So... after thinking about it, I'd like you to think about this... The automotive industry, for years was an oligopoly, just two serious competitors removed from a monopoly.

Innovation in the automotive industry was almost nonexistent for years. Then came the Europeans and Asian car makers. They forced our Detroit to change its ways.

Innovations came about in manufacturing techniques, engine design etc. Detroit can now go from concept to prototype within three years. The consumer benefited. The US economy benefited. It was because somebody lit a fire under their ass. I think Dept. of Justice just did that to Microsoft.

Read your history books. You'd be surprised what you'll find in there. I'm not trying to be antagonistic here, but I think you need to come up with better arguments than that.
