Ken, the commies were a tad more extreme...however, i find it absolutely mind-boggling that there are 'many economists convinced of technology driven enhancements having created a new economy'. the productivity stats are totally bogus, since they are distorted by computer manufacturing. when you take that out, no productivity gains of any consequence have actually occurred. the 'new economy' is good old-fashioned printing presses and all that entails. it reminds me so much of the sentiment in the late 70's and early '80's, when everything was supposed to go wrong forever...now it's the other way around. everybody's transfixed by the 'new era'...
