i have great appreciation for vets.. in fact if my dad did not make it through the war and become a vet,, then i wouldnt be here.. i guess im lucky ,, cus he was shot down 5 times.. and three of those times bouced off a carrier deck into the sea.. he in fact was just as lucky as me because his dad.. my grandfather was inthe boar war , and the first world war, and the life of a sniper in the french trenches was not expected to be a long one..
but to this day i remember when my dad told me he didnt want to go hunting with me in my youth,, so i asked why.. he simply told me that when you yourself have been hunted , and have been the hunter and looked into the face of some other person as you pushed the button , then done it time and time again, you find that there is no drive to kill agian left in you.
having never done this i can only conclude that the meaning of "vet" is much deeper than i ever wish to know..
god bless them all
