Right on Liz!

ARBA sold GM a software application, like you & I buying Microsoft Money 2000 Deluxe. But CMRC sold GM a relationship going forward to help GM build their internet e-Commerce strategy. If said plan works, CMRC will allow GM to work inventory, buy parts, sell cars, provide services to its customers/vendors. GM's 3,000 vendors can transact with GM via the web with the use of the framework CMRC creates for GM. If successful, CMRC will make money through fees from GM and from the 3,000 vendors. CMRC's framework, "The Global Trading Web" will be a global portal that will try to become the world's largest "virtual marketplace" for a wide variety of stuff, ranging from steering columns, air-bags, raw materials and service contracts. To make it attractive to the smaller of those 3,000 vendors, GM will combine with its orders those of the little guys that do business on the portal, lending them some of GM's buying power.
