Hi Jack:

Most observers would not agree that TGNT is the
market leader in the LMDS area. Winstar is way
ahead of Teligent in terms of customers and revenues.
However, it is less of an LMDS pure play, in the sense
that it attempts to build an end to end network
(it has acquired long distance fiber from WMB and
is also leasing metropolitan fiber from MFNX).
NXLK is also aiming to be a full service telecom
provider ( WCII and NXLK aim at becoming
mini-WCOMs). TGNT is probably being built in
order to be sold. The 4th player is ARTT,
which has a great national footprint, and
for which QWST is a large shareholder.

TGNT gets the headlines and has the well connected
partners (MSFT, NTT ...). However, if you go for
vision and execution, NXLK and WCII should be at
the top of the list.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
