Hello jack,
I think one of the best ways to obtain a description of Wi-Lan's Wideband version (or variation) of OFDM , and to form an opinion of the CEO of Wi-Lan ... is to review Mr. Hatim Zaghloul's public posts on the Fool.com's
Wireless World board.

boards.fool.com

I personally have a strong respect for Mr. Zaghloul, and
for the way he conducts himself, on the various boards
and threads that I monitor.

Perhaps, at an earlier date, Cisco could have "squashed
Wi-Lan like a bug", with Cisco's proposed version of OFDM ..
but I believe that Wi-Lan's alliances with Telia (and
perhaps Tele2 UK), and Philips / VLSI / DSPG ..
have seriously changed all of that.

In short, I think that there's plenty of room and opportunities for both companies to prosper in the WILAN
world.

Best regards,
Mardy
