I did not specifically mention Bloomsbury in the original, but the implication was clear to someone of your literary acuity. Yes, I am referring to the questions raised about the Economic Consequences of the Peace and the whole stance taken by the literati on the First War and provisions for security....

I agree that some European conservatives have to answer for an inadequate response to Hitler. That does nothing to alleviate the responsibility of others....

I find the Churchill quotes distasteful. I do note that he is referring to deracinated Jews as having been lured to Bolshevism, even though he exaggerates their role. I cannot comment much beyond that, since that quote is from 1920, and I have not examined the matter overall. As for the magnanimous words towards Hitler, I do not care much, as Churchill was about the only one warning against Hitler's pretensions during the '30s. And I agree that Bolshevism should have been strangled in its crib, even if I dislike the trope....
