Global Crossing, A.P. Moeller In 8-Year Ship Pact

NEW YORK -- Global Crossing Ltd.'s (GBLX) Global Marine Systems unit and Denmark's A.P.
Moeller (K.MAP) signed an eight-year agreement covering four new cable ships under
construction by Maersk Inc.

Terms weren't disclosed.

In a press release, Global Marine said it will provide cable-working expertise and A.P. Moeller will
provide the marine crew and vessel management.

The first of the four ships, which were designed for positioning and burying cable, will enter service
in August and the others will enter service at about six-week intervals.

The companies also agreed an existing vessel, modified for laying cable, will join the Global Marine
fleet in early 2000.
