The above may explain my "view" since I have not made a trade through Web St for a while....I've tried, but can't seem to sell my losers. Oh....how well I know about unfilled promises to correct problems. Ever since I began trading with Web St., in 2/98, I have periodically received an "Invalid Account Number" error message. I first reported it around 4/98 and was told it would be corrected immediately. LOL It's still there, but I just consider it a minor annoyance since trying again usually "fools" the system. Maybe I should just consider it an additional security feature. <G> I am not making light of your frustration since I certainly have suffered through many of my own with Web St....and expressed them quite vocally on this thread. One would think that with the upcoming IPO, Web St would be more attentive to current customer's requirements and problems - especially in light of increasingly aggressive competition for market share. If you do find the "perfect" broker, let us all know. I am currently using, in addition to Web St, Fidelity, DLJ, E*Trade and Citicorp....and still looking! Good luck.... Bill

Do you have a IRA account? If so, maybe that is the reason, I dont' know. A friend of mine was going to put his IRA at WEbstreet(until I told him otherwise). He said when he was filling out his IRA form it stated the IRA account "can't be used for day trading". Maybe that's how they try to stop it, by not updating the account balances on a cash account in real time. CHB.
